MONROE – An anonymous donor has again gifted thousands of dollars to the Monroe school district to help support education and students in need.

The donor, who knows trustee Rupa Siegel, gifted $6,000 after donating $10,000 last year.

At the donor’s request, the $6,000 gift will be used for five $1,000 scholarships for high school students in need and $1,000 for classroom supplies at the high school.

The board unanimously accepted the donation during the Oct. 16 meeting after taking a vote specifically on the gift resolution with the stated stipulations.

“I do want to thank him for his donation,” Siegel said. “Him and his family have been doing a lot of good throughout our community and this is just one way he wants to give back.”
