MONROE – The Monroe High School boys’ lacrosse team is moving on in the Group 4 South tournament after a dominating win against Cherry Hill East on Wednesday.
The No. 4 Falcons defeated No. 13 Cherry Hill East 17-1 at home in the opening round, notching the teams 11th straight win.
Mike Cavallo led the onslaught with 5 goals and 1 assist. The team also had strong contributions from Brian Kokal 2 goals and 2 assists, AJ Marrone 2 goals, 1 assist and Chris Pucciarelli 2 goals, 1 assist. Connor Gabilanes had a goal and lead the team with 4 assists.
Goalie Josh Estavillo continued his strong play this season by shutting out Cherry Hill East, before being removed for Christian Cipolletta, who gave up the lone goal to the visitors.
The win improves Monroe’s record to 15-3. The Falcons will have a couple days off to prepare for No. 5 Southern on May 18 at 11 a.m. at Monroe in the Group quarterfinals.
Old Bridge and South Brunswick lost their opening round matches. No. 10 Old Bridge lost 7-5 to No. 7 Freehold. No. 16 South Brunswick fell 15-5 to No. 1 Montgomery.
