Indivisible of Cranbury, along with a coalition of New Jersey progressive activist groups, will hold a Defund Hate Rally at the Freehold office of Rep. Chris Smith on Sept. 11 from 4-5:30 p.m.
The event, one of hundreds across the country to be held during the September Week of Action, Sept. 9-13, is in protest of the inhumane conditions at the Southern border, which are being paid for with American tax dollars.
“The key to fighting these concentration camps, family separation and ICE raids is defunding,” according to Laura Zurfluh, founder of Indivisible Cranbury and rally organizer. “We are outraged by this administration's attacks on immigrants, and committed to fighting these harmful policies by defunding the building of new detention facilities and hiring of new CBP agents. We are gathering at Representative Chris Smith's office to demand that he support cutting funding to ICE and CBP so that these monies can be diverted to humanitarian programs that will help solve the problem at our borders.”
Also attending the rally will be activist and former Congressional candidate Jim Keady, Itzel He, and more. Rep. Smith’s office is at 112 Village Center Drive, Freehold.
