SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A 57-year-old Jamesburg man has been charged in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of South Brunswick resident riding a motorcycle.

The incident happened on Thursday night, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and South Brunswick police said on Friday.

Peter Prete, of Jamesburg, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash and issued summonses.

The South Brunswick resident was identified as 25-year-old Cory Holsten, of the township’s Dayton section.

At this time, investigators say that Prete was driving a 2004 Jeep Wrangler when he allegedly crashed into Holsten’s motorcycle. They allege that Prete fled the scene. He was later arrested at his home.

The crash happened around 8:50 p.m. in the Cranbury Road and Davidson Mill Road area.

Holsten was pronounced dead at the scene.
