Monroe Township residents are invited to attend National Night Out Against Crime on Aug. 6 from 6-9 p.m. in Thompson Park, by the lake.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime efforts, and to strengthen spirit and police-community partnerships.

There will be free food, carnival games, a bounce house, dunk tank and giveaways.

Children who bring their bicycles and helmets can participate in the Bicycle Rodeo, an obstacle course designed to teach riding safety.

The Monroe Police, First Aid, Fire Department, and Department of Public Works will have vehicles on display and activities for the public to participate in.

In the event of rain, the event will be held at the Monroe Township Middle School, 1629 Perrineville Road.
