SOUTH BRUNSWICK – A dump truck driver was trapped inside the vehicle for 40 minutes after it slammed into a house on Shelly Road early Wednesday morning, township police said.
The vehicle crashed into the front of the house sometime around 4:20 a.m., while three people were inside the home at 3 Shelly Road. The dump truck was traveling on New Road when it hit the house.
New Road was closed between Wheeler and Constable roads while police were investigating until it reopened around 10 a.m.
Kendall Park Fire Department removed the driver from the vehicle who was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for “serious injuries,” police said.
The three people inside the home at the time were not injured, though the house was deemed uninhabitable.
