EDISON – A Rahway man was charged with attempted murder for a shooting that involved multiple police officers, Middlesex County authorities said on Sunday.

The suspect, Randy R. Jackson, 23, faces four counts of first-degree attempted murder, among other charges following his arrest on Sept. 26.

According to information from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, Edison police responded to a dispute at the Mr. Tire at 280 US Route 1.

Police interacted with Jackson, the report said, who then allegedly fled to an Open Road Mini-Cooper of Edison parking lot where he fired two shots at police.

Police chased Jackson on foot into a nearby neighborhood, where Jackson allegedly fire additional shots at police. Officers returned fire before they were able to arrest Jackson.
