Library books and laundromats

Books from the Old Bridge Public Library are available for free at Park Plaza Laundromat. The library has set up three stands at laundromats through a new program.

OLD BRIDGE – As part of its ongoing goal of making library services accessible to all, the Old Bridge Public Library has begun a community outreach program to area laundromats.

The library has placed racks of free books at local laundromats, allowing customers to browse the selections and take a book home without having to return it.

The books offered have been weeded from the library’s collection and would otherwise be recycled. Book displays can be found at Madison Laundromat, 65 Route 34; Smiley’s Laundromat, 1 County Road 516 and Park Plaza Laundromat, 343 Route 34).

“This initiative will expand the outreach services we currently undertake at barbershops, nursery schools and senior housing centers, and we hope it will bring the Library’s reach to a greater number of residents,” said interim Library Director Nicole DeMatteo.
