OLD BRIDGE – A township man was charged with the death of a 19-year-old woman this week after she was killed in a car accident Memorial Day weekend that also injured a 15-year-old female passenger, Middlesex County and local authorities said this week.

Aliaksandr Tsytsenia, 28, of Old Bridge was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident, assault by vehicle and driving while intoxicated.

The May 25 accident resulted in the death of 19-year-old Aliza Akhtar. The 15-year-old female in her car was treated for injuries at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital.

Authorities allege that while Tsytsenia was driving his Mercedes S550 eastbound on Texas Road near Route 9 around 11:50 p.m. when he crossed the double yellow lines and crashed into the oncoming Toyota Corolla driven by Akhtar.

Akhtar and the 15-year-old passenger had to be removed from the Corolla by first-responders and transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Authorities allege that Tsytsenia attempted to leave the accident scene but police stopped him as he was walking away from the crash. He was also treated for his injuries.
